Breaking Free – Maria’s Journey to Health (Week 23)

Breaking Free – Maria’s Journey to Health (Week 23)

Sometimes in life, it takes a wake-up call to shake things up. My wake-up call wasn’t really a shock, though. There were plenty of hints along the way, which I chose to ignore. I’d known for a long time that I needed to do something about my health – I just wish that I hadn’t left it to the point that it had become a full-blown crisis.

But, I am still thankful – as my crisis point, led me to my turning point, and to my decisive moment and action. Thankfully it was not already too late; and my crisis became my opportunity to finally get things right. I started to pay attention to what was happening – with my health, my work, my relationships – and as the fog slowly lifted, I knew something wasn’t right, it was time to make changes in my life. I finally listened to my feelings of dissatisfaction and realised that I needed to live my life authentically, in tune with my needs and values; bringing the many different facets of who I am, and who I will be, into alignment. The way I live now, is distinctly more congruent with what’s going on inside me.

This has meant that I check in with myself on a regular basis. You have all followed my journey and the massive changes I have made in my life, the ones I’ve been ‘meaning’ to do for a long time –  and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you, for being there for me, sharing my ups and downs, my successes and failures – and showing me such love and support. The commitments I have made with all of you by my side include:

* Have more fun. Spending more time with my partner, family and friends

* Exercising regularly and eating healthily – it helps to have the amazing support network at North Melbourne’s personal training facility, Result Based Training.

* Respecting my body’s wisdom; I pay more attention to the messages I receive from my body, and no longer ignore what I hear.

* Doing a better job of walking my talk. I often talk about the importance of living authentically; my intention is to make sure that my actions are a true reflection of my values and beliefs. That includes honouring the commitments I’ve made here.

I think one of the best things I have done, is progressively remove the term ‘eventually’ from my vocabulary. Because you know what, ‘eventually’ may never come. Actually, eventually will never come. Eventually will never be there. Right now, the way you are in your life now, is exactly the best moment to wake up and make the most of it! Forget the ‘eventually’-  that won’t happen, because the magic moment of life is now. Because, when you finally do get to wherever it ‘eventually’ leads you to, there’s going to be another eventually in your life, another series of things that you need to accomplish.

It’s time to become more present; love yourself, love your life, love who you are becoming; love and accept those around you…

We see and experience it time and time again; we go on living life in a robotic, automatic state until something major happens that kicks us into LIVING. Whether it is a death of someone close to them, a serious illness, an accident, getting fired from a job or loss of a relationship…These events are often life changing because they make us reflect. But, why wait? Let’s stop right now and reflect – ask yourself if you are living life the way you want to be living it? Six months ago, I was merely existing. I am now engaged in my life, in my work, and in my relationships. Just kick the fear aside and start taking steps to make things happen. You will think of all the excuses in the world as to why you should not begin now, but treat them as just that, excuses. Figure out what scares you and once you reconcile that in your head it will give you the strength to move forward.

In the last 24 weeks, I have lost a total of 42 kilos, or close to 25% of my starting weight – it amazes me! I have gained a whole lot more energy, perspective, confidence and am now excited about my future. I have been able to change my body and mind, but still remain who I am in my essence. Stop thinking about it and do it kids – it feels amazing!

If you know of someone that needs their life changed as emphatically as Maria’s has, then why not provide us with their details below. Tell them to expect a call, a call that can change their life for the better.
